Resolution Dissolution Solution
It’s the first week of the new year and I’m already thinking about how I can make lasting, continual, groundbreaking changes that will propel me into hitherto unexperienced states of personal and professional bliss.
Even a kindergarten variety search of my bedroom, digital and handwritten journals will reveal hundreds of goals, ideas, sketches, outlines and dreams on various scraps of paper, cocktail napkins and hand drawings — in full detail — of some idea, plan or logic, which I have long since forgotten I was going to “do or die”. Not one to give up on a concept that I feel sure could be fruitful, this year, I’m enlisting the assistance of the glorious concept of compound interest.
It seems to me that after the first week, any resolutions made are generally abandoned, revised to non-existence or forgotten by the third week of February — if they last that long.
We’re still in the first week of the new year and I’m feeling good about my choices so far. What? It’s only the 3rd? No matter. I’m in this for the long haul. Instead of selecting goals that last the whole year long, I’m going to try electing a series of goals. This week: I’m training with Don A Matrix, my favorite trainer in Los Angeles. He’s upbeat, friendly, will make me laugh if I start feeling like I’m gonna cry and I’m looking forward to seeing how I feel at the end of this week. What else? I’ll make additions to The Power of 52 as they present themselves. For now, here’s my plan.
Things that I can be, have, do
or have done by the last week of 2012
52 original songs — write and record one song every week or, 52 songs in 52 weeks.
my first full length novel — 1400 words a week, that’s like 10 tweets, which if I do each week will yield 72,800 words.
52 album covers for libriox.org — last year, I tried to do one every day. One a week is less ambitious but still nothing to sneeze at.
That’s what I’ve got down so far. To see if my list of things has evolved, the tag is The Power of 52.
In addition to The Power of 52, there are skills and practices which I intensely desire. The ability to fly, for example — but who doesn’t want that. I’ll leave that skill set for a fantasy post… Fantasy 2012? There are other skills and abilities that I want (almost) as badly. Here is my list of
Skills & Abilities to Acquire in 2012
Speed reading
Books I Hope to Read AND Understand — or begin understanding –in 2012
THE ICHING
THE JOY OF SEX — What? Don’t even try to tell me that YOU know everything already.
Topics of Exploration in 2012
Fibbonacci sequence — I am interested to learn more about this sequence. It is expressed in music and nature. It would be interesting to see how using this series of numbers might influence my projects. The Fibonacci series not only defines the Golden Ratio or Divine Proportion, but has many unique, intriguing relationships and properties.
